Bringing more sources into KeywordMoves

I’ve released KeywordMoves 0.5.0 with more ways to bring useful sources into keyword research. The aim is to give each result enough context to judge what it actually tells us.

A music catalogue can help check a recording’s artist and genre. Article views can show attention around a subject. A keyword provider can estimate searches and competition. Each is useful, but they answer different questions.

Three source types in KeywordMoves: Apple recording identity, Wikimedia article attention and SE Ranking keyword estimates, with their different limits.

Adding catalogue and topic context

The new Apple song reader returns catalogue details such as the track, credited artist and genre. The Wikimedia reader keeps daily article views for a stated date range, including any missing days. Neither turns those records into a claim about demand for a song.

Datamuse also has more context options, including topic hints, neighbouring words and its supported language vocabularies. It helps explore wording; its relevance scores are not search-volume figures.

Keeping the collection deliberate

An explicit research plan can now bring the supported free readers and saved evidence imports together. It keeps the original sources, subjects, dates, scope and units with the results. A failed source remains unavailable rather than quietly becoming a zero.

SE Ranking adds another route for keyword metrics, related phrases and questions. It needs an API key and paid access. The adapter requires a stated credit allowance before a request; that local check is not a guarantee about the provider’s billing. I tested this contract with synthetic responses and haven’t run a paid SE Ranking collection.

What is verified

The free Wikimedia and Apple readers were checked against their live APIs. The release passed 1,994 local tests, with two optional model checks skipped, and all checks on the reviewed pull request passed. GitHub and PyPI package downloads were independently checked against the same checksum manifest.

More sources can improve the questions we ask and the evidence we retain. They don’t prove that every suggested phrase is worthwhile, or that KeywordMoves predicts results better than another tool. Song fit, listener intent and actual search referrals still need their own review.

KeywordMoves 0.5.0 is available on GitHub and PyPI. The multi-source research guide explains the supported routes and their limits. This builds on the earlier evidence-monitoring work.
