Artwork, confirmed release information, platform links and catalogue identifiers are collected here for editorial, broadcast and playlist use. This page takes its visual language from the official release artwork: a fog-softened night garden, an ornate bandstand, a silhouetted couple and lantern pools held between emerald and magenta light.

Behind the song

From a 2010 electronic seed to a 2026 story

The song began as a progressive-house production released by Kieran Simkin under the name SlinQ in 2010. Sixteen years later, Kieran rebuilt that musical starting point around a vivid personal memory: an unhurried day moving through Saffron Walden, from the duck pond and Jubilee Gardens to the High Street, a fire-station conversation and the next-day pint at the Temeraire.

The 2026 release supersedes the earlier version. Its joy is immediate, but its final perspective is grateful rather than possessive: the connection was real even though it did not become an ongoing relationship.

We Don't Need No Room To Roll

Saffron Walden sunshine, town moving slow
Market day murmuring, nowhere to go
Sat and ate together, laughter in time
Whole world softer when you're next to mine
By the duck pond waiting, letting moments land
No plans, no pressure, just you and my hand
Strolled up to Waitrose, easy control
Couple small supplies, let the whole day roll

Joy in your laugh, ecstasy close
Heartbeats lock when the whole town knows
Sun on our skin, let the moment unfold
We don't need no room to roll
Hold me tight, lose control
Spin with the feeling, body and soul
Say it loud, let the story be told
We don't need no room to roll

Jubilee Gardens, grass warm, sky wide
Laid in the sun with the world outside
Your hands in my hair, hours drift past
Talking real quiet, hoping it lasts
I'm on top of you—or maybe it flipped
One laugh too loud and the balance just slipped
Down the hill rolling, holding as one
Did it again, then again 'cause it's fun
Someone shouts, "Oi—get a room, you two!"
We just laugh back like, "Nah, we're cool"

Joy in your laugh, ecstasy close
Heartbeats lock when the whole town knows
Sun on our skin, let the moment unfold
We don't need no room to roll
Hold me tight, lose control
Spin with the feeling, body and soul
Say it loud, let the story be told
We don't need no room to roll.

Up the High Street, bouncing with air
Phone shop doorway, mate clocked the glare
Said we burst in glowing, joy on display
Couldn't miss the feeling if you tried that day
Fire station open, engines asleep
Asked a fireman something stuck real deep
"Ever saved a cat from a tree?" He said, "Yeah."
Don't know why, but that stays with me

We were never together, still feels true
Some love lives clean in the space it knew
No labels needed, no wrong, no right
Just depth and purity, held that light

Joy in your laugh, ecstasy close
Heartbeats lock when the whole town knows
Sun on our skin, let the moment unfold
We don't need no room to roll
Hold me tight, lose control
Spin with the feeling, body and soul
Say it loud, let the story be told
We don't need no room to roll

Back to your mum's as the night drew thin
Crashed on the bed, letting silence in
I could've hugged you all night long
But you were hugged out—still nothing wrong
So we held hands, no need to speak
Just fingers touching, soft and weak
Whole universe in a moment that small
Didn't need more—had it all

Next day sunshine through the window pane
Slow steps out, shaking off the rain
Pint in my hand at the Temeraire
Letting memories settle in the air
Happy days I'll always treasure
Hope we cross paths again one day, whenever
If we don't, still grateful for the role you played
That love was real, however it stayed

Next day slower, thoughts settling fair
Pint in my hand at the Temeraire
We don't talk now, yeah the silence grew
Different directions, nothing to prove
Still doesn't fade what that day became
Still holds weight, still holds flame
Some moments live once, then never let go
We don't need no room to roll
