The single
Light is both celebration and choice.
Rangoli, diyas, sweets, gifts and fireworks meet a modern British dance-pop frame, while the chorus turns inward: wisdom and dharma guide the path through darkness.
Origin story
A bright pop record with meaning at its centre.
How might a simple British pop song celebrate Diwali while keeping its meaning at the centre?
The writing developed around three everyday scenes: lighting diyas beside a rangoli, sharing sweets and gifts, and dressing for a family celebration. Those moments are connected by a chorus about wisdom, self-inquiry and dharma.
Research into devotional voice, drone, cyclical percussion and communal call-and-response informed the creative direction. The result is a contemporary response inspired by those ideas, not a claim to reproduce a single traditional form.
The song arrives on Friday 6 November 2026, two days before Diwali. This British personal response offers contemporary Diwali music for 2026: an invitation to gather, reflect and keep choosing what brings light.

Lyrics
Official lyrics in English for Kieran Simkin’s Diwali song, Light Will Win (Shubh Diwali).
Light Will Win (Shubh Diwali)
Ganesh, show the way
Let the light begin
Light will win
Light will win
Rangoli colours by the door
Diyas glowing on the floor
Little flames, golden bright
Ancient wisdom in the light
Look within and you will see
What you give is what you keep
Ganesh, show the way
Show the way
Dharma every day
Every day
Look within, let the light begin
Yeah, the light will always win
Ganesh, clear the way
Keep the dark at bay
Walk in light, live it right
On the road to Lakshmi tonight
Oh, let the light begin
Oh, let the light begin
Heart and mind, truth inside
Yeah, the light will always win
Pass the mithai, share the sweet
Little gifts for those we meet
Friends and family, side by side
Love means showing up with pride
Give your time, give your care
Duty means that you are there
Ganesh, show the way
Show the way
Dharma every day
Every day
Look within, let the light begin
Yeah, the light will always win
Best sari, dressed to glow
One last look and off we go
Lanterns high and fireworks bright
Family dancing through the night
Spark by spark, flame by flame
Every year we learn the same
Wisdom first, then do what's right
Walk your dharma, follow light
Ganesh, show the way
Show the way
Dharma every day
Every day
Look within, let the light begin
Yeah, the light will always win
Ganesh, clear the way
Keep the dark at bay
Walk in light, live it right
On the road to Lakshmi tonight
Oh, let the light begin
Oh, let the light begin
Heart and mind, truth inside
Yeah, the light will always win
Light will win
Light will win
Look within
Let the light begin
Light will win
Light will win
Follow light to Lakshmi
Light will win
Light will win
Follow light to Lakshmi
