Hell Gondola

Paris lights, river black,
Old world image, new-world splash,
Table set, cameras flash,
Faith meets fashion, instant clash.
Priests get mad, feeds go wild,
Every side gets reconciled?

Nah — more noise, more heat, more spin,
Everybody talks, nobody gives in.

Round and round, down we slide,
Truth gets dressed for the televised ride,
Grip that rail, enjoy the show,

Nobody knows where the hell we go.

Hell gondola, hell gondola,

Round we go, go, go,
Riding the hell gondola through the queer last supper,

Down to the gutter then up, up, upper.
Hell gondola, hell gondola,
Drop then pop, pop, pop,
Riding the hell gondola through the queer last supper,
Bottom to the top and we never quite stop.

Raygun steps, beat goes bang,
Hop like a roo, arms go clang,

Dip, drop, freeze, then slide,
Whole damn internet joins the ride.
Nil on the board, ten for the meme,
Lost the round, won the screen,
Clip gets clipped, joke gets spun,
One bad dance becomes everyone’s fun.

Laugh for a minute, loop it for days,
Turn one person into a phrase,
Fall down once, stay down forever,
That’s how the timeline keeps us together.

Hell gondola, hell gondola,
Round we go, go, go,
Riding the hell gondola through the queer last supper,
Down to the gutter then up, up, upper.
Hell gondola, hell gondola,
Drop then pop, pop, pop,
Riding the hell gondola through the queer last supper,
Bottom to the top and we never quite stop.

Then Yusuf strolls with a hand in his jeans,
Low-key king of the shooting machines,
No robo-visor, no laser-head kit,

Just raise, aim, breathe — then casually hit.
Still as stone with a sideways stare,
Silver medal like he found it on a chair,
Everyone kitted like a mission to Mars,
Yusuf turns up looking fresh from the bars.

Raygun hops, Yusuf aims,
Paris burns in Olympic flames,
Meme meets medal, joke meets pain,
Round we go and round again.

Flash, click, scroll, repeat,
Whole world dancing to the same damn beat,
Laugh if you can, duck for cover,

Next stop down: the queer Last Supper.

Hell gondola, hell gondola,
Round we go, go, go,
Riding the hell gondola through the queer last supper,
Down to the gutter then up, up, upper.
Hell gondola, hell gondola,
Drop then pop, pop, pop,
Riding the hell gondola through the queer last supper,
Bottom to the top and we never quite stop.

Hell gondola, round we ride,
Half of us laughing, half horrified,
Hell gondola, summer of thunder,

Down through the noise then up, up, up her.

Raygun hop, Yusuf pop,
Paris party never knew when to stop,
Hell gondola, hold on tight,
Down through the madness and back by night.

Hell gondola...
Hell gondola...
Round we go...
