How might a simple British pop song celebrate Diwali while keeping its meaning at the centre?
The writing developed around three everyday scenes: lighting diyas beside a rangoli, sharing sweets and gifts, and dressing for a family celebration. Those moments are connected by a chorus about wisdom, self-inquiry and dharma.
Research into devotional voice, drone, cyclical percussion and communal call-and-response informed the creative direction. The result is a contemporary response inspired by those ideas, not a claim to reproduce a single traditional form.
The song arrives on Friday 6 November 2026, two days before Diwali: a timely invitation to gather, reflect and keep choosing what brings light.

Kieran Simkin is an independent songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist based in Seaford, East Sussex.
Working from his home studio, he writes and performs songs shaped by emotional honesty and a willingness to cross stylistic boundaries. He plays bass, guitar and keyboards and takes a hands-on role in arrangement, production, mixing and mastering.
